Unclog sewers with hot water and baking soda

For a small or incipient clog, you can pour hot water and baking soda down the drain. Baking soda is a natural cleaning salt that can loosen and dissolve caked-on residue on the inside of the drain. This can counteract an incipient clog.

You can also try pouring a mixture of baking soda and vinegar slowly (because the mixture fizzes) down the drain to clear the sewer of lime residue in this way. Water contains lime particles and these remain in the sewer and accumulate over time. You can prevent this by using vinegar regularly.
